Organisational structure of the Observatoire

The Observatoire de la Ville Intérieure is founded on a three-party agreement with the Faculté de l'Aménagement and the Institut d'Urbanisme. Administratively, the Institut shares responsibility with the scientific committee and the directors' committee.

The mandate of the directors' committee is to approve the annual budgets, to coordinate the various activities that fall under the remit of the Observatoire, and to establish further development strategies. The composition of the committee is as follows:

  • The dean of the Faculté de l'aménagement: Ms Irène Cinq-Mars
  • The director of the Institut d'urbanisme: Mr Gérard Beaudet
  • The director of the Observatoire: Mr Michel Boisvert
  • The representative of the scientific committee: Ms Jacqueline Vischer

The mandate of the scientific committee is to plan the activities of the Observatoire, as well as to ensure conformity to the institutional standards and policies with respect to research, information dissemination, and influence. The composition of the committee is as follows:

  • The director of the Observatoire: Mr Michel Boisvert
  • The vice-dean of research and of graduate studies: Mr Jacques Fisette
  • The director of the Institut d'urbanisme: Mr Gérard Beaudet
  • A member of a public or para-public stakeholder organisation: Mr Jacques Besner
  • Two research professors: Ms Jacqueline Vischer and Mr John Zacharias
  • One external expert selected by the committee: post currently vacant

The Observatoire enjoys a certain level of administrative autonomy, thanks to an administrative agent.
